One Thing does not collect any data. Full stop.
We built One Thing to be a calm, private place — so privacy isn’t a feature, it’s the foundation. Here is exactly how your information is handled:
Nothing. One Thing collects no personal data, no usage data, and no analytics of any kind.
Everything you type into One Thing — your tasks and reminder settings — is stored only on your device. It is saved locally (and shared with the app’s Home Screen and Lock Screen widget through Apple’s on-device App Group storage) so the app and widget always agree.
This data never leaves your device. We have no servers, and we cannot see, access, or receive anything you write.
If you turn on gentle reminders, One Thing schedules local notifications on your device using Apple’s notification system. These reminders are generated and delivered entirely on-device. No reminder content is ever sent to us or to any third party.
Because we collect nothing, there is nothing to share, sell, or hand over. We do not, and cannot, provide your data to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
Your data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes all of it. There is nothing stored elsewhere for us to delete.
One Thing is safe for users of all ages. Since we collect no data at all, we collect nothing from children.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Since the app’s no-data-collection design is core to what One Thing is, we don’t anticipate meaningful changes.

One Thing is a deliberately tiny task app. Instead of a long, guilt-inducing list, it shows you exactly one thing to do right now, with a single big “Done” button. Come back after two minutes or two hundred days — the screen looks the same. No streaks to break, no red badges, no shame.
Tap the bell icon to set optional reminder times. Reminders are opt-in, fully under your control, and never fire when your list is clear — the app won’t nag you about nothing. Reminders use a soft chime instead of the sharp default tone.
Add the One Thing widget to your Home Screen or Lock Screen to see your current task at a glance — and check it off without even opening the app.
Where is my data? Is it backed up? Your tasks are stored locally on your device. They are included in your device’s standard iCloud/iTunes device backups, but One Thing itself has no cloud sync and no servers.
Does it work offline? Yes, completely. One Thing needs no internet connection and makes no network requests.
I missed a day / a week. Did I break anything? No. There are no streaks, no penalties, and nothing to break. One Thing is designed to be shame-free — pick up whenever you’re ready.
How do I turn off reminders? Tap the bell icon and turn reminders off, or disable notifications for One Thing in the iOS Settings app.
